There is an ongoing debate about movie ticket prices in the Telugu states. Producers of big-budget films are requesting ticket hikes and the Andhra Pradesh government has been granting permissions without much trouble. However the situation is different in Telangana due to recent unexpected issues.
AP Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh has announced that the state government is planning to introduce a single ticket pricing policy very soon.
He said a Government Order will be issued shortly. This decision was shared after a review meeting held at the AP Secretariat.
Durgesh stated that the government does not want to put extra burden on audiences by increasing ticket prices. Over the past few months, feedback has been collected from producers, distributors and theatre owners.
He also hinted that ticket hikes may still be allowed for big-budget films. A committee will submit a detailed report soon after which the government will take a final call.
